Presidents Highlights - July 22, 2021

The first Seabeck Community Market was held Sunday afternoon July 18th. The market featured local fresh farm goods, local artistic crafts, live music and a food vendor. The market was a great success for the shoppers and the vendors. The real joy was with the connection of people; friends, family, neighbors, visitors and old time school connections. The event was a gathering that really enhanced the community’s vitality. The next Market is scheduled for August 1st and is expected to be bigger with some suggested improvements. Please thank Market organizer Marla Wilson. She did an outstand job volunteering her time and talent. She and husband Josh operate Heavenly Point Farm and she can be seen behind the counter at the Seabeck General Store.

The Central Kitsap School District sponsored a Health Fair at SCC on Wednesday July 21st. The Fair offered well child exams and COVID vaccinations. Peninsula Community Health Services came with two very impressive new vehicles. One van had two completely equipped exam rooms and real time fluid analysis lab. The second van had 3 complete dental chairs and an X-ray room. Hopefully they will be back this fall and fully operational.

SCC has a newsletter called the “Seabeck Star”. The first addition came out in early July. The Seabeck Star contains articles of interest to SCC members and the community. Newsletter submissions can be sent to seabeckstar@gmail,com. Please thank volunteer editor Suze Marie Marcinko. She has worked hard to put together a real professional looking newsletter.

Your Board of Directors is meeting every two weeks on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 at SCC. The next meeting is July 28th.

My hope is that you will finally get to reconnect with family and friends this summer. Pam and I are really looking forward to some visits.

Cheers, Don
